Certificate IV In Fitness (SIS40210)

Personal Trainer

The SIS40210 Certificate IV in Fitness is the nationally accredited qualification to become a Personal Trainer. The qualification is part of the National Training Package and recognized throughout Australia.

Enrolled students will complete all mandatory Core and Stream Units, as well as a required 4 elective units which have already been chosen and included in modules.All units have been divided into various modules, in order to complete this qualification all modules must be completed and assessed as competent.

For students who do not already possess SIS30310-Certificate III in Fitness, they are also required to either;

  • Complete the required pre-requisite units from Certificate III in Fitness as part of their Certificate IV course. These students will only be issued a Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210).
  • Complete the Certificate III course in combination with Certificate IV and receive both qualifications on completion, Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30310) and Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210).

The course is delivered via

  • Part time comprising of a combination of face to face lectures, practical workshops, online and correspondence modules (Additional support is available on request)
  • Distance Learning. (Electronic resources distributed by CD and/or email)

Please note: Where a course has scheduled practical requirements (ie. Workshops/Exams) there is a 100% attendance requirement for ALL students.

You can complete the theory components of the course in the environment of your choosing self-paced (distance/online), although we do require all students to attend workshops and exams.

All participants receive course manuals via electronic copies (student notebook and workbooks), any additional lecture notes, and access to online assessment and learning materials.

For those students who have not gained Certificate III in Fitness and wish to only complete the pre-requisite units, the materials will be issued beforehand to complete via correspondence learning. These workbooks must be submitted for assessment prior to completing Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210) qualification.

Before receiving your qualification, students must also submit a copy of a current Level 2 First Aid certificate which Global Fitness Institute also deliver (please check with Institute regarding locations and dates) or completed externally.

We allow a maximum of six months for you to complete the course but many students complete the course in a much shorter period.

The fitness industry is physical in nature, and whilst we do not expect all enrollees to be elite athletes, students must be prepared to physically participate and demonstrate competence in industry specific skills.

Course length may also be considerably shortened by successful application for Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL), for those who have completed prior studies in related fields and/or have relevant industry experience. Please note: you can only apply for RPL for complete modules (not parts thereof), and you will be required to provide appropriate evidence. Students who have completed parts of the qualification with another provider can apply for direct credit transfer.

Upon completion of this qualification, you will be issued with

  • a certificate indicating the following;
    • This is to certify that „your name‟ has fulfilled the requirements for SIS30310- Certificate III in Fitness (specialization)
  • a statement of attainment listing all completed units

10% discount if the student enrolls in another course with Global Fitness Institute within 12 months
