The SRS40506 Certificate IV in Sport (Development) is a nationally accredited qualification, and is suitable for people working in the sports industry as Development Officers, Sports Administrators, Indigenous Sports Development Officers, Level 2 Coaches seeking formal sports qualifications. This qualification is designed to reflect the role of team leaders and supervisors in the industry sector.
The Certificate IV in Sport (Development) could lead to career opportunities in the sporting area such as: Development Officer, Indigenous Sports Officers, Sports Administration, and Future Coaching careers in specific sports.
This qualification is part of the National Training Package and is recognised throughout Australia.
This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to develop, coordinate, coach and officiate in a wide range of sports. You will learn to facilitate the development of competing athletes to improve performance for themselves and/or that of a team. You will also learn to coach children and people with special needs. You will learn skills in sports science, sport psychology, nutrition, and planning and conducting training programs. As part of this qualification you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned.

This is optional depending on course study method, forms available upon request from Global Fitness Institute. Pre-requisite units are embedded at no additional cost.
This qualification facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills at the state/territory level:
Enrolled students will complete all 9 mandatory Core units, 16 Stream Units from the functional area of development, and 11 elective units as chosen from any competency within the Training Package.
Certificate IV in Sport (Development) is targeting those learners/coaches/officials currently working in the industry, or already participating as sports coaches/Instructors/players etc.
Students are able to enroll in multiple courses. Please note: This requires all/any pre-requisite units to be
satisfied.
Students are also able to combine units, in order to gain dual qualifications in other specializations for only a small number of additional units. As the core units for any Certificate IV course in the Sport and Recreation Industry training package, are the same,

The course is delivered by a combination of face to face lectures (where applicable), practical workshops
(where applicable), distance learning and online learning.
Fitness and health related training will be delivered in a classroom environment. Qualified coaches will act in mentoring roles to promote best practice and to enhance the student‟s experience and outcomes.
Research activities will be self paced and undertaken off campus.
Assessment activities will be undertaken via theory tests, completion of assessment workbooks, observation/ questioning checklists under supervision by Global Fitness Institute trainers/assessors. (Please contact Global Fitness Institute for next available dates for lectures)

Although you can complete much of the course off-campus where a course has scheduled practical requirements there is a 100% attendance requirement for ALL students.
As this course is delivered mostly via distance learning, it is self-paced, meaning there is no minimum timeframe for course completion, as long as the student successfully completes all required tasks.
Understand however, that evidence must be provided to ensure that you have met all required levels of
competency for each unit.
We allow a maximum of 12 months for you to complete the course, but many students complete the course in
a much shorter period.
Course length may also be considerably shortened by successful application for Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL), for those who have completed prior studies in related fields and/or have relevant industry experience.

Students are required to hold a valid Level 2 First Aid certificate.
