The HLT40307 Certificate IV in Massage is the nationally accredited qualification to become a Massage Therapist. This qualification is part of the National Training Package and recognised throughout Australia. Massage is a soft tissue manipulation therapy, utilising a range of physical modalities used in the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions, that cause myofascial pain and affect Human movement. This qualification is well suited to those who are already working in a health related area, and/or those students who would like to work in a supporting role or as a starting point into more advanced massage therapy.
The HLT40307 – Certificate IV in Massage qualification covers work for a massage therapist at a basic level. It provides skills in therapeutic and relaxation massage including basic health assessment and treatment. With this qualification, therapists can work in a clinic, aged care facility, health service, spa facility and in palliative care in a hospital or facility.
The course is designed to develop workplace knowledge and skills in relaxation and therapeutic massage.
This incorporates the planning, applying and performing basic health assessment necessary for massage
treatments.
This Certificate is delivered over a 6 month period, with flexible delivery modes. Course length may also be considerably shortened by successful application for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), for those who have completed prior studies in related fields and/or have relevant industry experience. Please note: you can only apply for RPL for complete modules (not parts thereof), and you will be required to provide appropriate evidence. Students who have completed parts of the qualification with another provider can apply for direct credit transfer.
For those wishing to do the Diploma, it is a requirement that you complete Cert IV in Massage first, or as
part of, so you would commence at the same time.
Certificate IV in Massage is delivered via face to face lectures and correspondence, as a mixed study mode.
Mixed mode entails a combination of theory via correspondence learning, and practical workshops.
Theory Modules will be provided in electronic booklets (via CD or email), to be completed at home, in class where applicable.
Enrolled students will need to complete 15 competency units, of which include 10 common units and 5
specialisation units. All participants will receive electronic copies of course manuals, session notes, and access to online assessment and learning materials where applicable.
Upon completion of this qualification, you will be issued with

- a statement of attainment listing all completed units
