Certificate III in Sport (Coaching)(SRS30306)

The SRS30306- Certificate III in Sport (Coaching) –is a nationally accredited qualification to become a Coach / Instructor in your chosen sport, as listed below. This qualification is part of the National Training Package and recognized throughout Australia.

This qualification facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills at the state/territory level:

  • Observing athletes performance to determine the level of instruction required;
  • Teaching techniques for athletes to acquire additional skills or improve existing skills;
  • Supervise practice sessions;
  • Planning, conducting, evaluating and modifying individualized training programs;
  • Implementing sports first aid procedures and applying sports first aid;
  • Supervising the physical development of athletes
  • Aiding in the psychological preparation of athletes for training and competition;
  • Providing information about the fundamental principles of eating for peak performance;
  • Organizing and liaising with sports science support staff;
  • Planning and directing game strategy, in consultation with club officials;
  • Analyzing the progress of games or competitions and giving signals/instructions to athletes;
  • Carrying out after competition analysis and evaluation of strategy and performance;
  • Undertaking related administrative tasks such as booking venues, budgeting, organizing tours, and arranging entry into competitions; and
  • Recruiting players and other support staff

Enrolled students will complete all 9 mandatory Core units, 12 Stream Units, 6 elective units as chosen from the National Training Package, as well as the specialization in respective sport.

Certificate III in Sport (Coaching) is aimed at coaches who are preparing and training athletes for competition, this qualification develops coaching skills to instruct intermediate level athletes.

Learners/Coaches wishing to undertake this qualification should be established coaches and/or participants in the respective sport in which they are seeking a qualification. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

The course is delivered by a combination of online tasks and Distance learning, face to face to face lectures available for all core units. There is no start date, enrolments taken throughout the entire year.

Fees include all training resources, notes, access to online resources, assessment tasks etc.

As this course is delivered via distance learning, it is self paced, meaning there is no minimum time frame for course completion, as long as the student successfully completes all required tasks. Understand, however, that evidence must be provided to ensure you have met the required levels of competency for each unit.

We allow a maximum of six months for you to complete the course but many students finish the course in a shorter period

Upon completion of this qualification, you will be issued with

  • a certificate indication the following;
    • this is to certify that „your name‟ has fulfilled all requirements for SRS20306- Certificate II in Sport (Coaching)(specialization)
  • a statement of attainment listing all completed units

 

Recognition of Prior Learning

Course length may also be considerably shortened by successful application for Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL), for those who have completed prior studies in related fields and/or have relevant industry experience.
Current sports team coaches, instructors etc and those with fitness industry experience, or those who have completed further study in the area of Human Movement, Physical Education or related fields, would almost certainly be eligible for a considerable amount of RPL credits.

Further/Combined study options

Certificate III in any of the Training Packages within the Sport and Recreation Industry require the same core units to be completed as part of the course requirements. All elective units can be taken from any Certificate III level qualification endorsed within the Training package from any other industry.

If you choose to complete two certificates in a combined study option;

For example: Certificate III in Sport (Coaching) & Certificate III in Fitness
The workload would be greatly reduced for the additional certificate and you have the advantage of an additional qualification.

Please note a 10% discount applies to all students who wish to undertake multiple qualifications.

Martial Arts Instructors! DID YOU KNOW? If you conduct exercise to music classes in your centres to encourage a wider range of clientele, you are legally required to be certified in these areas. For this example, you would require Certificate III in Fitness – Group exercise Specialisation.

First Aid

Students are required to hold a valid Level 2 First Aid certificate.
Global Fitness Institute deliver Accredited First Aid courses, please contact us for dates and locations, additional First Aid fee of $95.00 is to be paid at time of the course.
Where a student already has a current First Aid certificate (Level 2 minimum), or chooses to obtain First Aid elsewhere, they are to present that copy for RPL purposes.
